I’m writing this as a plea. I am frustrated when legislation cites another piece of legislation with an acronym without explaining what the acronym is. I feel that this legislation will be a minor quality of life improvement, and also for my own sake.
Section I: Definitions

• I.I: An **acronym** is a new word made by taking the first letters of a group of words and pronouncing them as a single word. (ie. PIPA, PP)
• I.II: An **acronym expansion** is the full phrase or longer set of words that an acronym stands for. (ie. Polling Integrity Protection Act, Privacy Protection.)

• II.I: Legislation drafted shall be encouraged to use an acronym expansion alongside the original acronym the first time it appears in a piece of legislation. (ex. “The Polling Integrity Protection Act (PIPA) is a law in TeenGovernment.”)
• II.II: The acronym then may be stated without its acronym expansion after its first use. (ex. “As months have gone on, PIPA has seen more controversy around its existence.”)
• II.III: One cannot be punished for omitting an acronym expansion in legislation.
• II.IV: Legislation passed before this piece of legislation that does not adhere to these standards, are not affected by this legislation.

• III.III: This legislation shall go into effect upon passage by Council.
