Change Rule 1

Why I believe this is necessary: The current rule one, stating “Do not be an asshole” is very subjective and vague. I could argue someone saying they hate me is asshole behavior, even though that wouldn’t be harassment. Thus, I believe a distinction is necessary to protect the free speech of the citizen.

Rule 1: Attempts to harass an individual, for example making constant attempts to belittle, intimidate, or threaten them, shall be prohibited by this rule. If an individual can prove that another citizen has made more than two attempts, in a consistent manner, over a period of time which short distances between, they can sue them under violation of rule one.

Note: A short distance of time would refer to the amount of time for an action taken to be considered consistent harassment. Consider this scenario:

Person A insults Person B calling them belittling names during an argument (or whatever situation).

The next day, Person B is active. Person A inserts themself into conservation to insult them again. This would be considered harassment.

Will be edited as needed.

> attempts to belittle, intimidate, or threaten them, That would make it not cover when people tell someone to "kys" or such. Seems like a pretty big gap it'd be making.

I think it does cover that tbh. That could be counted as a threat.

It would actually be intimidation I think

I'd vote nay on this for a very specific reason. 1. Your free speech issue is negated by the toxicity act. There are lots of free speech protections. 2. Imagine if someone says kys retard once. they can't be sued! 3. your bill takes out the part that says This subreddit "bigotry, discrimination, homophobia, sexism, xenophobia, racism, misogyny, misandry

1: if something else protects it then its fine we don’t need this 2: the r slur being used against someone would already be punished by mod discretion, for the kys part this can be changed for extreme circumstances like this 3: thats covered by rule 8

You'll remove legal mod discretion if you remove rule 1 and no, R8 is different

I don’t intend to remove it, just rewrite it so it’s less subjective. Also, apologies if it removes legal mod discretion, from reading rule 1 there isn’t explicit confirmation that this would be under mod discretion (except an explanation of how to appeal), thus I figured mod discretion would be a given. Furthermore, rule 8 covers attacks based on personal identity. Attacks based on personal identity is discrimination. So yes, discrimination is already covered. https://preview.redd.it/48x8icn11exg1.jpeg?width=958&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5199f8e9bf352cd2a3c151b8203c007a18d544c0
